How to choose lightning network

Wallets, node managers and tools for the Lightning Network: instant, low-fee Bitcoin payments over payment channels.

When comparing lightning network, start with where the software comes from. Prefer programs with a public source repository, signed releases and an official download page you can verify. Our reviews link only to official sources and record the installer hash we checked.

Next, look at maintenance. Crypto software that has not been updated for a year or more can break as networks and exchanges change, and security fixes stop arriving. Programs we consider unmaintained or discontinued are clearly marked, and you can hide them with the status filter above.

Finally, match the tool to your skill level. Many of the most powerful programs are aimed at experienced users. Our "Best for" and "Skip if" notes in each verdict are the quickest way to tell.
